Blake Snell Opens Up About Being Pulled From Game 6 Of 2020 World Series

World Series - Tampa Bay Rays v Los Angeles Dodgers - Game Six

The Dodgers in 2020 defeated the Tampa Bay Rays to win their first World Series in 32 years. But in Game 6, a lot of drama surrounded the Rays.

Blake Snell in the Players Tribune, spoke out about the moment leading up to getting pulled out of a game he was dealing in and the aftermath of being traded to the Padres. Here is some of what he had to say:

It was weird, though, because in that moment, as emotional as it was … I didn’t even really respond. I didn’t cry at all when I saw him crying. It was like I couldn’t feel anything at that point. That whole night after the game, I didn’t know what to say or do. I just packed up my stuff and I was ready to go home. Then, the next day, I started thinking about maybe some things I’d say to the manager after everything cooled off.I remember that I wanted to let a few months pass. Let some of the chatter die down.

When the Rays lead 1-0, the left-hander struck out nine through four innings and allowed just two hits over 5 1/3 frames, while throwing only 73 pitches. After Snell gave up a one-out single to Austin Barnes and with the top of the Dodgers’ lineup coming up for the third time, Cash ran out of the visiting dugout with the intention of pulling a dominant Snell in favor of Nick Anderson, who was the Rays’ best reliever in the regular season.
