Rob Manfred Has Informed Teams To Plan For 162 Game Season

World Series - Los Angeles Dodgers v Houston Astros - Game Four

Baseball could be right on track to start up when it was scheduled.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred reportedly clubs Monday that they should be preparing for spring training to start on time in February and to plan on a full 162-game season being played, according to sources with Bob Nightengale & three people with direct knowledge of the conference call.

Major League Baseball was hoping to delay the season by at least a month to provide more time for players and fans to receive COVID-19 vaccinations, enabling fans to get back into ballparks earlier. But the Major League Baseball Players Association vigorously fought it.

The 2021 Major League Baseball season is planning to begin on April 1 and end on October 3rd. The 91st All-Star Game is scheduled to be played on July 13th in Atlanta.
