Last week, the Dodgers were winners at the trade deadline when they acquired pitcher Danny Duffy and All-Stars Max Scherzer and Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals.
On social media, a user by the name of eric_a_fain on Instagram shared a story that involved Danny Duffy in his last few days in Kansas City. Here is what happened according to him:
Walking down Broadway to get a drink at the gas station, myself and this guy had just crossed paths and noticed another man suffering what appeared to be a heat stroke. He ran to get some water while I called emergency services and waited and tried to communicate with the man as he regained consciousness. Thankfully the EMTs arrived and relieved us took the situation over. After walking away and talking a bit he told me he played baseball and that he was leaving town soon. Being in a little bit of shock from the whole situation I realized who I was speaking with. Danny Duffy it was a pleasure to meet you on your last days in KC and great to see you’re a hero on and off the field.
The 32-year-old veteran had spent his entire 11-year career with the Royals, who selected him in the third round of the 2007 MLB draft.
Duffy was 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched for the Royals this season. He is 68-68 with a 3.95 ERA in his career.
