Kentucky Offers John Calipari A Lifetime Contract To Counter UCLA's Offer

Houston v Kentucky

According to Seth Davis of the Athletic, Kentucky is preparing to offer John Calipari a lifetime deal to stay with the Wildcats.

It is being reported that UCLA offered the Kentucky coach 6-year, $48 million deal to coach the Bruins which is $8 million a year. That is almost triple what Steve Alford was making when he was coaching.

Currently, John Calipari is the highest-paid coach in college basketball making about $9.2 million this season, and his current contract runs through 2024 and the newest deal could give him even more security long after he is done coaching.

John Calipari took over the Kentucky Wildcats’ men’s hoops team all the way back in 2009. Since then, he has one national championship, gone to four Final Fours, routinely brings in the top recruits in the nation and has joined the Basketball Hall of Fame for all his coaching accomplishments. Kentucky is doing everything they can to retain their head coach to keep him around for years to come.
