Corey Seager Targeted To Return At The Start Of Training Camp

Just a couple weeks into the season, the Dodgers were hit with a huge piece of news when it was announced that Corey Seager was going to be done for the year when he opted to get Tommy John surgery in April. Seager in August also had hip surgery which set things further back.

At the general managers meetings this week, President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman addressed the Corey Seager situation.

“Everything, to this point, all the checkpoints have been really good, really positive."

The 24-year-old hasn't started any running or doing any baseball activities, but the Dodgers are very optimistic that he will be on the field for Opening Day.

“We will make sure he’s in good shape physically and ready for the day in and day out grind before we put him back in. We think that will be Opening Day. At this point, we don’t know. Each kind of checkpoint along the way in the offseason will help inform that. We are optimistic he will be ready Opening Day."

The 2016 NL Rookie of the Year will resume his position as the shortstop of the Dodgers once he comes all the way back from his surgeries.
