NFL Owners Prepared To Waive Discipline For Protests

NFL Protests

NFL owners are reportedly trying to swing a deal with players to avoid the national anthem protests that have plagued the league over the last year.

In return for the NFL Players Association endorsing that players stand for the National Anthem, owners would waive discipline for any player protesting during the national anthem.

Back in May, NFL owners voted on a new national anthem policy, removing a requirement for players to be on the field for the anthem, and giving the players the option to stay in the locker room.

Since then, the league has backed off those plans as a result of the backlash they faced from fans and players.
