Arizona Star Allonzo Trier Declared Ineligible Over Positive PED Test

Arizona star Allonzo Trier has found himself in trouble once again over use of a banned substance.

The junior guard, averaging 19.6 points per game for the No. 14 Wildcats (21-6, 11-3), has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA effective immediately after a second positive test for performance-enhancing drugs.

Arizona is appealing the suspension.

Trier missed the first 19 games of last season after a test found traces of performance-enhancing drugs in his system. His departure this year has the opportunity to throw a wrench into the Pac-12 championship hunt.

The Wildcats currently lead the conference, but USC and UCLA remain within striking distance in the race for the regular season title.

Trier's absence could also have a heavy impact on the postseason. Arizona is the likely favorite in the Pac-12 Tournament, and is considered a Final Four contender.
