Spencer Freedman is one of the top high school basketball prospects in the country, and he's taking his talents to the Ivy League.
Freedman committed to the Harvard Crimson this week.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Santa Ana Mater Dei point guard is the No. 99 overall prospect in the Class of 2018, according to Scout.com. Freedman reportedly choose Harvard over the likes of USC, Washington, UCSB, Rice, Portland, Northern Arizona, Cal State Northridge and Yale, with head coach Tommy Amaker playing a significant role in his decision.
Per Scout.com:
“My reasons for choosing Harvard are first and first most how incredible it is an academic institution and Coach Amaker,” Freedman said. “My relationship with him has been incredible and we’ve really gotten to know each other well. He’s taken a big interest in me as a player and person.
“Something he’s stressed from beginning is how much he believes in me. He was a point guard at Duke and being able to learn from him is something that is really important to me.”
